Ground Driving

In this video we explore the techniques of ground driving, how to prepare your horse and the purposes and goals behind this approach. This can be a helpful tool in the starting process for any horse – but is particularly helpful for nervous horses that have trouble accepting a persons position above/behind their blind spot or changing eyes. Done correctly, this can help a horse learn to follow the rein with flexion throughout his body.

**Horses, horse activities and horse training can all be extremely dangerous. Although horses can appear calm and passive animals, horses can be unpredictable and dangerous at times. Do not attempt any of these training demonstrations without proper supervision, safety equipment and proper facilities. Neither True West Horsemanship Ltd, Ben Longwell nor its/their employees, agents and producers of this video are liable or responsible for any injury(ies) or loss resulting from these exercises and demonstrations for horse and horse training activities contained herein.

Introducing Obstacles

In this video we work through the process of introducing a horse to a new obstacles (in this instant – a bridge – but the same principals apply to any new obstacle). We take 2 different horses through the same process, so you can see each of their response. To make this a successful experience for your horse, always have a solid foundation in groundwork, communication and ridden basics (for more info see videos in groundwork and ridden work series).
