3 Day Vaquero Horsemanship and Hackamore Clinic.

Clinic Format: This clinic is suitable for those currently riding in the traditional vaquero style hackamore or have purchased one and are interested in transitioning/introducing their horse to it. This clinic may also involve some stockwork and some introductory roping following with the vaquero traditions.
Date: Sept Sun 22nd & Mon 23rd, 2024
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Where: Arena, Varekai Ranch, 20510 Swalley Rd, Bend, Oregon
Cost: $300 per participant (for both days) + arena fee
Arena Fee: $20 (for both days)
Spectators: $30 per person, per day
Dogs: No dogs
Horse Overnight: $15 per horse per night
People Overnight: $15 per night (dry camping, access to microwave and fridge – coolers encouraged).
**Maximum of 10 participants for this clinic. Spaces in the Clinic are run on a first-in first-served basis, with your spot confirmed by a non-refundable $150 deposit, due at time of booking. If for some reason you have paid the non-refundable deposit, but are unable to make the clinic – you will only be refunded the deposit if you are able to find a rider to replace your spot or if the clinic is full and there is a waiting list with someone who would like to take your spot.

Suitable for those currently riding in the traditional vaquero style hackamore or have purchased one and are interested in transitioning/introducing your horse to it. This clinic will also involve some stockwork and may involve some introductory roping following with the vaquero traditions.
The emphasis in all Clinics is always on learning to communicate more effectively through “feel”, timing, and balance, building a working relationship based on respect and trust between horse & rider. All Clinics are flexible based on participant’s skill/experience levels.
Subjects may include (but are not limited to):
• How to introduce the hackamore to your horse
• Groundwork to prepare for the hackamore
• History, traditions and what to look for in good gear
• Learning how to ride with more wiht your seat and legs
• Using reins less
• Understanding key differences to a way a hackamore operates
• Low-stress stockmanship principles
• Refinement in communication & horse movement
